Its Official OPPO. This guy is moving to Denver come March 5th! I am so excited to be there. After 26 years in Wisconsin I thought it time to make a change in scenery. I am trading my Lake view with a mountain view. My ST and I will be making the almost cross country drive, loaded down with everything it can carry. Once I am there the first thing on my list to do is take a drive in the mountains. (Dont worry I have blizzaks and 10 years of Wisconsin winter driving experience) If there are any Denver Oppo's around let me know what I need to do first now that I am a resident of the beautiful state of Colorado!
Here is a Bocar Stilleto, made by Bocar from Lakewood Colorado!

they may not all be warm but we do have a lot of sunny days. Gonna be 60s this weekend

I havent gotten an apartment yet but the plan is to stay in the city... somewhere near lodo, cheeseman park or city park. or maybe up by coors field somewhere. I havent really decided, I am thinking about flying out for the weekend to apartment hunt and then go from there.
I would stay out in the burbs more but I am 26 and I want to be able to bike or walk to where ever I want to go out.

I love it there. I was visiting over new years and it was 60 almost every day and I fell in love. I was working on my resume on the flight home. Landed a job in a couple of weeks and here I am.
I cannot wait until that last box lands in my apartment and I can walk to the nearest brewery for a pint.

Beer
Grab a beer
Gotta keep your priorities straight, son

Dude I know! I love your beer, I think Denver is the only place suitable for someone used to Wisconsin Beer culture to move to. You guys really know whats up out there.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 17:43 |

Hell yes. Brewery tours are free, and some give you enough beer to get a sizable buzz going - namely New Belgium. Tons of breweries in the area, always something new/different to try!

Living downtown is really expensive, prob gonna run you over $1000/month with roomies. City Park is a weird mix of very ghetto and very rich, my BIL is DPD and works that area, he'd tell to avoid avoid avoid. That and it's not that close to downtown at all. Coors Filed is in lodo, in fact there would be be no Lodo without it.If the nightlife is important consider the areas with light rail access. It's being built on the west side (Arvada, Golden Lakewood) now, but plenty of service from the south side of town (Parker, Littleton, Highlands Ranch).
Theres stuff to do everywhere, even in the burbs. I have a little ' downtown ' area in my city that has a several bars and even our own micro-brewery less than 5 blocks from my place. You may even consider Boulder unless your work has you somewhere too far from there. Obviously the CU girls would be a draw for a mid-twenties single guy.
The metro area is pretty large and with normal traffic can be over an hour drive edge to edge. Do you have work locked down? I'd look to be as close to there as you can. You're definitely not gonna want to live in Thornton if you're working in Parker for instance.
There's too much to type out here but feel free to ask about anything you need.

Me too, born and raised. I'm down in Olde Town if you ever wanna grab a pint at ABC

God dammit everyone stop moving to Colorado before I move back!
Yer t'kinerrr JEEEEBS! Actually its the taking of hot Colorado blond-stock and barspace I take issue with.
But you're a Wisconsinite so its great. Wisconsinites have winter driving exp, midwest manners (not like those dirty Jerseyites and Californians) and what family of mine that didn't stay in rural North Dakota moved there. Why the move?
Anyhoo yeah I'd just checkout the surrounding 'burbs with light rail access if the dtown area is what you're about. Even Westminster (my last residence) which is a fast 10-15 min drive north by way of I25 has nice new apts faaaar cheaper with more sq ft than anything you'd find in lodo. Hell I knew kids renting bigass McMansion's for less money. Congrats by the way.

Heck yes - when I get a real job and can afford beer again, I will hit you up :)

I am moving because I loved denver when I was visiting. It was only a short visit but I knew almost instantly its where I needed to be. We are trying to find something near cheeseman park or city park or maybe in the neighborhoods south of Colfax. We have thought about the burbs, but we want to be able to go out at night and only have short walks rather than rail, bus, or car rides. I have notice significantly cheaper and much larger places available a little outside the city. We are also trying to scope out a house for rent as those tend to be cheaper and offer a yard and parking and what not. Thanks by the way!

Welcome! You have to go up Pikes Peak, and thru Rocky Mountain National Park. I'd wait till Trail Ridge Road reopens in the late spring and make a day of it. I'd also recommend a track day at High Plains.

A former co worker moved from Madison to the Denver area...he grew up in Madison and after about 45 years, a marriage and 25 years in the same job was ready for a change in his life. He loves it in Denver.

If I had a dime for every mid westerner that moved to Colorado (myself included) I'd be stupid rich.

Some of us have talked about a OPPO meet in Colorado, keep a eye out for it one the weather is nicer! (I'm in Loveland, about a hour north of Denver)

Welcome! Can't think of any place else I'd rather live. Be sure to take advantage of the twisty mountain roads.

I cannot wait to do the twisties! I'm so fucking excited to drive and cycle them!!!!
![]() 02/12/2014 at 22:57 |

Yeah I have work locked down at a place on colorado Blvd just south of first ave. If I lived in downtown it'd be 5 miles...which is a very short bicycle ride....living in the city would be ideal for that reason. The extra money I spend on rent I would more than make up for in savings on gas

If you haven't been you should go to epic brewery it's on like 30th and walnut and it's.....well....epic

It's not necessarily the best road ever, but I'm fond of the trip between Morrison and Evergreen, and then from Evergreen to Conifer. If it's a weekend during the summer, you'll probably find me there.
![]() 02/12/2014 at 23:04 |

Haha when I was visiting in early January I met 1 person from colorado....and a Shit load of people not from colorado. I think denver and colorado just attract all the cool ass people. I like that

God pikes peak is so high on the to do list it's almost the title. I'll check out that track too it sounds like a blast. I want to drive pikes and cycle down...then cycle back up and drive down.

If you can cycle up Pikes Peak my hats off to you sir! You're coming to the right place if you're a cyclist. Just be sure to lock it up well if you leave it anywhere.

I've mentioned it numerous times on here, and alot of people think it'd be awesome, and I've heard from others that they've been thinking/talking about it this year too, so I'm sure one of us Coloradoan's will sort something out :)

Nice! Hit me up if you're ever in town, we'll grab a brew

Oh nice, that's a pretty sweet area for everything really. A lot of the 'hip' restaurants and stuff are down there. Like I said, if you have any questions let me know, I'll try to help out best i can.

I would be happy to help coordinate any way I could but I dont know the good driving roads yet so I dont have much imput that way.

Thanks man I will for sure, I might fly out next weekend to apartment hunt and just get a better feel for where my job is and what not.

Haha I live in milwaukee... locking is muscle memory at this point. Ive done the Going into the sun road in Glacier, and also the adirondacks, appalachians, and the entire length of the cascades. I have faith in my self for pikes peak but I know it will be a struggle as its been a while since I have done a mountain climb.

If I'm the one that posts about it I'll probably look for some ideas from fellow OPPO's, but we'll see who does it. My 2 thoughs atm arr go karting, orrr drive up the Estes park canyon (one that flooded earlier this year). The Estes park thing would be closer to me, so if I'm the one that posts I'll ask for other ideas seeing as there are people 1 hour south of Denver too I'm sure, lol.. also, since you're moving to Denver, if you like Mexican food at all/spicyish food, there's one restaurant I would say you have to try, it's been on TV a few times. If you go though, don't bring ur nice car, or have a friend wait in your car (it's a pretty bad part of town as far as I know) but anyway— http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-origin… usually best to call in a order, I'd say Mexican Hamburger is a good place to start :) It's pretty much a burrito hamburger, and gives you a taste of there famous green chilly
![]() 02/13/2014 at 10:52 |
|
Dude that sounds amazing!!!! I love mexican, we have a HUGE variety of it on our south side here in milwaukee and its something I was going to miss dearly. My favorite restaurant is in a really shitty area, but the Hispanic side of milwaukee isnt actually that unsafe for people who are not involved in the gang issues.
As for the oppo day the Estes park sounds awesome! Go Karting would be epic too! I havent gone karting in so long and I have wanted to every day since the last time. Is there a place that is more adult with faster karts or dirt karting or anything like that?
![]() 02/13/2014 at 11:01 |
|
Then it should be fine! Best Mexican place I know of is defiantly chubby's, and the one I gave the link too is the only one I would eat at, there's more then one but this one is the actual original and thus is the one that has grandma's recipe's, where the others don't.
And indeed, and this place a bit more adult I believe — http://unserracing.com/ <— they also run a exotic car driving experience out of it, so there's usually a Gallardo among other insanely nice cars there that they use for it. I'v heavily considered going and doing it, price isnt that bad (for the Gallardo driving, iuno how much the karting is :P )
![]() 02/13/2014 at 11:03 |
|
Yeah, that place has a full bar...so is for adults a bit lol
![]() 02/13/2014 at 11:32 |
|
I have wanted to do one of those driving experiences for a while now but I am holding out until I find one with a Mclaren. I know this will sound dumb, but The MP4 12c is the only exotic I really have an interest in driving (and I mean that in the sense that its actually a possiblity that I could pay for that driving experience...if they had a p1 I would sell a kidney to drive that. Just Mclaren> Ferrari/Lambo all day in my book.)
![]() 02/13/2014 at 11:56 |
|
I think a Ferrari would be more fun, as there cars still have soul, but either way.. My gf drove the Mp412c, as well as a Gallardo, not sure witch she liked more.. that place has a Gallardo and a 458 special edition of some sort, also they have race cars in the show room sometimes (I only know all this as the dealership my 2 past cars came from is next door) ..also Groupon has deals for them :)
![]() 02/13/2014 at 12:07 |
|
I will have to check them out. Ferrari has always rubbed me the wrong way. I dont know why but there is something about those cars I just dont like. I am sure that is a sin to say on here but I just dont like them. The 458 is probably the first one that I have actually not completely dismissed. Lambo is always cool I was just not a fan of the Gallardo or Murc. I love the aventador and the Huracan and the Egoista and Venneno are just godly. But to me, there is nothing more beautiful that the P1 and the Mp412c i think is just great at what it was built to do, an experience I would love to have.
![]() 02/13/2014 at 12:25 |

I like the Gallardo b/c it was the last super car to have a stick shift, also..UGR Gallardo's rape everything, lol
![]() 02/13/2014 at 12:33 |
|
OK I will give you that on the last super car with stick. I get that these new cars are so fast that stick and the sack of meat holding it cant keep up....but its sad to see them go.
![]() 02/13/2014 at 12:41 |
|
Indeed, the one they have their is auto of course -.- they probably don't trust people driving a stick, lol

If I had a dime for every Californian that moved here, I'd be able to buy the state of California itself.

Groovy yeah was always charmed by the big older tree coverage in the city park/ south colfax area cuz its kinda a rare thing and cheesman is just purty/ a potentially happening spot. enjoy n goodluck on what job endeavors should u need them
